NATIONAL URBAN INFORMATION SYSTEM (NUIS)
                          The NUIS scheme envisages to develop Urban Spatial Information System (USIS) and National Urban Data Bank Indicators (NUDBI) covering all the 5161 city/towns/UA’s in the country. As part of this, five towns of Kerala (Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Palakkad) were allotted to KSREC by identifying as the Partnership Institution (PI).The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is the funding agency of this project. The scale of the study is 1:10,000 and themes are deriving from Cartosat - 1, LISS -IV and merge data. Themes prepared:
1. Urban landuse/cover
2. Physiography (outside core area)
3. Geomorphology (outside core area)
4. Geological structures (outside core area)
5. Lithology (outside core area)
6. Soils (outside core area)
7. Drainage ( Poly & Line)
8. Surface water bodies (Poly)
9. Road ( Poly & Line)
10. Rail (Line)
11. Canal (Poly & Line)
12. Transportation nodes (Poly)
13. Administrative boundaries (Poly)
14. Forest boundary (Poly)
15. Settlement & Village locations/names (Point)
16. City/Town boundaries (Poly)
